About Me

My name is Sarah Moore and this is my first year as a teacher. I'm really excited to begin working with my students and cannot wait to meet you all! I recieved my Bachelors in special education in 2009 but have been working with students with special needs for 5 years. I have a wonderful boyfriend and a dog named Lenore who I love to death. I love to read, eat, sing and play sports.

I became a teacher simply because I LOVE working with kids and can't imagine having any other job that would make me as happy as teaching. I believe that working with a diverse student population is enriching and enables other students to become aware of other students backgrounds.

Classroom Expectations

PROGRAMMING

My classroom continues to focus on functional programming. We look at the “big picture” and how the activities in the classroom will affect the student inside and outside the school community at their current age and in their future.

BEHAVIOR

Student behavior is very important inside and outside the classroom. Your student is required to follow all of the school rules and district policies, unless noted on their IEP. When students have difficulty following rules and policies, they will receive and appropriate consequence. Green, Yellow, Red card system. Everyday students will start with a Green card. When a behavior occurs, I will give a verbal warning. If the behavior continues, the student will receive a Yellow card (or an official warning). If the behavior continues beyond that, they will be given a Red card (which means an appropriate consequence will be given). I, do not typically write home for minor infractions.

PARENT COMMUNICATION

I use a Weekly Communication paper (enclosed in packet) to communicate with parents. At the top of the paper, I will note any activities that are going on for the week. Below that, will be a space for me to write to you AND a space for you to make comments, ask questions, etc. Please initial the paper and keep it in your student’s Daily Communication folder. I will also be sending home a calendar that includes monthly activities.

STUDENT ID’s

Your student will be given an I.D. on the first day of school. I, typically, keep these I.D.’s in the classroom. They will need to carry their I.D. with them on-campus at all times. The students are expected to be responsible for their I.D.’s. If they lose them or break them, they will need to replace them for a charge. You will receive a note from me in the event of this occurring.
